Digi Awarded Embedded Software Best of Show: Digi Application Kit for Android

We are excited to announce that Digi International® won the Best in Show award from Venture Development Research Group (VDC) at Embedded World 2012! The Digi Application Development Kit for Android , the industry’s first Android embedded application development kit, was recognized as best of show among many companies we respect who exhibited at Embedded World, including: Microsoft, Mentor, Wind River, IBM, Oracle and more.

The kit includes drivers and Digi software extensions to easily create Android-based applications on embedded platforms. The included iDigi Connector for Android enables customers, with literally a single line of software code, to completely cloud enable their devices.

Best of Show

VDC awarded the embedded software best of show to Digi International for its Digi Application Development Kit for Android, a unique hardware and software solution for engineers seeking to deploy Android in their embedded designs. Digi’s development kit includes a complete Eclipse-based development environment for use on both Linux and Windows workstation, BSP for the ConnectCore Wi-i.MX53 and Wi-i.MX51 families, Android APIs extensions for embedded interfaces not supported natively by Android, samples demonstrating how to access the ConnectCore hardware, and features the iDigi Device Cloud for creating smart connected devices. The Digi Application Development Kit for Android – which ships with a 7″ LCD touchscreen and is ready to use out of the box – is available now for $499.

Digi International attended the 2012 Embedded World Exhibition & Conference in Nuremberg, Germany February 28- March 1. According to the show closing report, there were 872 international exhibiting companies and more than 20,000 trade visitors.

The 10th Embedded World Conference offered excitement and interest, particularly around intelligent devices, M2M and “the Internet of things.”
