Finalists Recognized at Comdex Fall 2002 in Las Vegas
MINNETONKA, MN, November 24, 2002 — Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) today announced that two products from its subsidiary Inside Out Networks™, Inc., the leader in enterprise USB connectivity, were finalists for the "Best of Comdex" Awards. AnywhereUSB™ the first remote networking solution to utilize USB-Over-IP and the Watchport™ Series of environmental monitoring appliances, were chosen as finalists in the enterprise hardware category as a 24/7 asset monitoring solution. The finalists were selected by editors at PC Magazine, the official sponsor of this year's "Best of Comdex" Awards, which recognized and honored technical innovation and creativity in nine categories."We are pleased that two of our products have been selected as finalists for the prestigious 'Best of Comdex' Awards," said Joseph Dunsmore, president and CEO of Digi International. "We were hoping for a good response to the launch of the AnywhereUSB and Watchport Series products, but this truly recognizes the advancements that Digi has made in creating innovate products."
The Watchport Series of plug-and-play USB devices offers a simple solution for 24/7 asset monitoring with the flexibility of à la carte product selection for unique application requirements. Vision components for surveillance, including the industrial-grade USB Camera, analog to digital Video Encoder, and Motion Detection Software, may be paired with sensors for proximity, motion, water, temperature and humidity to create a made-to-order asset monitoring system to pre-empt system failures and extend the life of equipment. Watchport Manager sends phone, email or beeper alerts and enables easy integration without additional software development. Watchport solutions are a perfect fit with the AnywhereUSB Remote I/O Concentrator, which utilizes a wired or wireless Ethernet LAN to break the traditional five-meter USB cable distance barrier. Now, USB devices like printers or the Watchport camera and sensors may be connected and monitored via an IP address from anywhere on the LAN – without a locally attached host PC. Both AnywhereUSB and the Watchport Series are designed for mission-critical Windows® applications like surveillance, indoor/outdoor kiosks and branch server room management.
"We were very excited about the great response we had for both products at Comdex this year," said Stephen Popovich, chief operating officer of Inside Out Networks. "Being a 'Best of Comdex' finalist for this solution was recognition of the dedication and hard work of the Digi Team in developing these products."
The Watchport/V USB Camera, offering exceptional low light sensitivity for surveillance, is available now through Digi's global distribution channel. Watchport/P, Watchport/M, Watchport/W, Watchport/T, Watchport/H, Watchport/VE and Watchport Motion Detection Software and AnywhereUSB are scheduled to ship by the end of calendar year 2002.
