What is Digi PortAssist Manager?

Digi PortAssist Manager is a web-based monitoring and control tool for the Digi AccelePort Xp, AccelePort RAS, and DataFire RAS products.

How does Digi PortAssist Manager work?

PortAssist Manager consists of three key components:

Server: The server component of PortAssist manager acquires and processes information from the communication agents on the network, and makes it available to clients through a web interface. The system hosting the PortAssist Manager server must run a supported operating system, and a Java Virtual Machine version 1.1 (or greater).
Communication Agent: The communication agent is the link between the actual Digi product and the server. The Digi product and its communication agent need to be installed on the same system in order to enable communication with the PortAssist Manager server component.
Client: Any system running Netscape Navigator 4.0 (or greater) and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 (or greater).

The organization of the PortAssist Manager server, communication agent and client does not require three distinct systems for operation. All components can be combined in one system or in some variation of shared system space, as long as the technical requirements for each component are maintained.
