How to Buy

PortServer TS P MEI makes it easy to connect RS-232/422/485 serial devices to an IP network. By supporting versatile powering options like powered Ethernet and powered serial, this serial server can adapt to many applications where traditional power alternatives are required.

Powered Ethernet (802.3af, mid- and end-span support) makes it possible to run just one Ethernet cable to the device server for both power and communications. The powered serial feature enables PortServer TS P MEI to power a device over serial using Ring Indicator (RI) or DTR pins. Each power feature is available in addition to a traditional power connector, and can serve as redundant power in case of an outage from either source.

Available in two- and four-port versions, PortServer TS P MEI delivers universal, high performance multiport serial-to- Ethernet connectivity. It is ideal for applications requiring COM ports, serial tunneling, or where TCP/UDP Socket functionality is needed.

  • All RJ-45 to DBx cables are 10-pin. Only the RJ-45 to RJ-45 cable is an 8-pin cable.
  • All RJ-45 adapters are 8-pin. When using these adapters with modems or other applications that require DCD on pin 1, you must turn on altpin.
  • If altpin is turned off, the hardware signal on pin 1 becomes DSR instead of DCD. This alternative can be used if DCD is not required, and DSR is needed instead.
