The success of standalone mobile kiosks, digital signage applications, and connected devices in the retail environment is heavily dependent on seamless connectivity. Network outages can compromise the ability to transfer critical data, complete transactions, support your team's productivity and keep your connected devices secure.

Avoid these network outages with primary or backup LTE connectivity by retrofitting your infrastructure for cellular network access. Cellular routers and extenders with the right features can ensure that your network is always up, always on, by quickly switching to a new connection if one connection fails.

An ideal failover solution should have the four critical features we discuss in this blog post.

Simplified Integration

Digi 6310-DX can be used as a primary 4G/LTE data connection or as a backup network solution to streamline business continuity. By adding Digi 6310-DX to your network, any Ethernet device can utilize fast and convenient cellular data, and Digi 6310-DX can be located or mounted in a location where the cellular reception is the strongest.

The optional remote mounting kit includes a site survey battery pack, passive Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) adapter, and mounting supplies to increase placement flexibility and help locate the area where the signal is strongest. Digi 6310-DX ships in IP Pass-Through mode to simplify installations.

Certified Connectivity Options

Cellular extenders that feature not only multiple carrier support but also multiple WAN connectivity options (Ethernet or cellular) and include load balancing and failover capabilities. With a Digi CORE plug-in modem, the Digi 6310-DX can connect to a cellular network using the 4G LTE standard that best suits the given use case particulars including speed vs. cost variables.

Upgradeable with 4G LTE Plug-in Modems and Dual Sim Support

Powered by the Digi® CORE 1002-CM LTE plug-in modem, dual-SIM slots can further protect against downtime by automatically switching to a secondary cellular carrier should the primary SIM lose Internet access. A suite of Digi CORE plug-in LTE modems allows customers to select the cellular connection that best meets their speed, budget, fallback-network and geographic requirements. The modular nature of the Digi CORE plug-in modem helps mitigate technological obsolescence by allowing customers to upgrade to newer LTE standards without replacing Digi 6310-DX. When there is a need for faster connectivity users can simply upgrade their LTE modem while protecting the investment in their Digi 6310-DX.

Centralized Device Management

The Digi centralized management platform provides easy setup, configuration and support for installations of Digi and third-party devices. Digi Remote Manager® and Digi Aview offer web-based device management solutions to securely monitor and control the health or your network before, during, and after deployment.
