tty not appearing after install and configuration in Ubuntu

I am installing RealPort on Ubuntu Linux 14.04. Your documentation is excellent, thanks. The problem is that once installed and configured (and assigned a tty port) the device/tty port is not present. DMESG shows nothing about this device and the application I'm using this for doesn't see it as well. I've gone through this several times each time with the same result. Help.

I've got the same problem with a EL160.
Did you find a solution?
Any help appreciated.

What happens if you run "/etc/init.d/dgrp_daemon restart"? Do you see an error?

This version of Linux relies upon UDEV to create the tty devices, if restarting the daemon does not reveal anything, you might to put UDEV into debug mode to see if there are errors there.
