Hello,

Can anyone help please

Current Hardware: Windows Server 2008 R2 (Virtual Server)
Digi Modem: PortServer TS 1

I am having difficulty with the PortServer TS 1 talking to the Virtual Comm port on Windows Server 2008 R2.

The following has been carried out:

1) Digi PortServer 1 has been configuried with an IP Address and DNS

2) I can http onto the PortServer from the Windows Server

3) i can telnet onto the PortServer on port 2001 from the Windows Server

4) I have installed and run the latest version of RealPort software (4002549_G Realport) and configured COM4 with the IP Address on the PortServer TS 1 Modem

5) The Standard Modem has been configured on Windows Server on COM1 (It wouldn't let me config it on COM4 not sure is this is causing me the problem)

6) when i Query the Modem the Modem fails to respond. it logs the following errors in the log file

12-10-2015 13:00:44.474 - Modem inf section: Gen288
12-10-2015 13:00:44.474 - Matching hardware ID: mdmgen288

Hi Prakash,

Realport does not use port 2001. It uses port 771 by default. In device manager under multiport serial adapters have a look at the advanced page of the realport driver. What does it say?

Hi Nicholas,

Just checked under Multiport serial adapters it's showing TCP port 771, also the Port Status is showing as Connected

I have checked the following:

1) Real port Configured on COM4 with the IP Address of the PortServer

2) I am able to Telnet to the IP Address of the PortServer on Port 771,

3) When I add the modem on the server i carry out the following tasks

3.1) Control Panel --> Phone and Modem
3.2) Select Modems Tab
3.3) Add --> Tick Box 'Don't detect my modem i will select from a list'
3.4) Select Standard 28800 bps Modem (Also tried Dig PortSever TS + Modem PnP and Digi PortSever TS 1 M MEI Drivers)
3.5 Select COM4 (This is the where RealPort is configured on)
3.6) This installs the Modem Drivers
3.7) Click on the Finish icon
3.8) I Double click the Modem and open the Properties
3.9) I then Select the Diagnostics Tab
3.10) I select Query Modem

This is where it fails it reports the following error:

The modem failed to respond. Make sure it is properly connected and turn on. If it is an internal modem or is connected, verify that the interrupt for the port is properly set

The log file shows the following:
12-10-2015 13:00:44.474 - Modem inf section: Gen288
12-10-2015 13:00:44.474 - Matching hardware ID: mdmgen288

12-10-2015 13:12:43.670 - File: C:\Windows\system32\mdminst.dll, Version 6.1.7600

I am at total lost here, not sure what else i can try, please advise
