Xbee 802.15.4 Star Network Throughput

I'm planning to construct a Wireless Sensor Network which uses 18 Xbee 802.15.4 modules (17 as routers and 1 as broadcaster). The network will be configured as a star network configuration with the broadcaster sending out 50 messages/second to the other 17 routers (4 bytes/message). Therefore, it looks like the network throughput should be: 50*4*8 = 1.6 kbps. Is everything considered realistic with Xbee 802.15.4?

These 18 Xbee modules are to be installed in the same room which size is 5m x 15m.

50 messages/second is achievable by 802.15.4 modules if they are set at higher baud rate like 115200.

But do not expect more than it, this is close to best performance of these units.

How to test the throughput while data send at the same time to 1 coordinator ? Throughput tool in xctu only compatible with 2 devices (1 local and 1 remote) *correct if im wrong
