Will disabling "Ip Forwarding" on X4 affect Python or Device Cloud links?
We have a X4 running Python & uploading via both the X4's Device Cloud channel & some HTTPS web services.
We do not want any attached Ethernet device to be offered cellular Internet access. Can we just turn IP forwarding off? Python >IS< talking via Ethernet to a second Ethernet device. However that device has no interest in "Internet" - it is a simple Ethernet server which answers polls from the X4 Python.
(As for DHCP server in the X4 ... we're still seeing if that can be turned off. We're not sure if the "Ethernet Device" is expecting to be assigned an IP or is using fixed IP. This unit was installed over 5 years ago & the installers didn't document how it was set up. So a quick-fix would be to disable the IP forwarding ... if that won't affect the Device Cloud or a normal Python app trying to upload via HTTPS to external server via cellular).
