Trouble communicating between arduino and xbee

0 votes
I attempted to communicate between two arduino uno's using xbees. However, one of the the xbees, the coordinator, now no longer talks to XCTU. I plug it in via USB and a breakout board and XCTU doesn't recognize it. The xbee in question continues to sort of function; however it only sends the hex values 0x80 and 0xF8. This output is shown on the end point side. The end point still performs correctly.

What's happened to the coordinator that's caused it to no longer talk to the XCTU?

Is it reversible?

What is the correct way to get the arduino to talk to a xbee over serial?
