That's simply the syntax of Python. It's succinct and often referred to as "literals".

You should try micropython too, its even better than python when it comes to embedded systems. I have used it in programming ESP8266 and it worked like charm. I was using NodeMCU.

Python literals are a notation for representing a fixed value in source code. They are defined as raw values or data given in variables or constants.

Python has 5 different types of literal.

Numeric literals
Boolean literals
String literals
Literal Collections
Special literals
