Sending a break from an existing session with the Portserver CM

  • From a telnet session.
Type the "^]" [control-right square bracket] which is the default telnet escape characters.
    • If the telnet was initiated from the CM, or if you are using a menu. You will be prompted with the option to send a break.
    • If the telnet was initiated from an outside source. Issuing the telnet escape will take you to the "telnet>" prompt.
      telnet>send brk

  • From an ssh session.
Type the "~break" [tilde-break] which is the default ssh break characters.
    • The ssh break can be changed from the WEB UI under "Configuration" then "Serial Ports". Or by editing /etc/portslave/pslave.conf under "all.break_sequence ~break".
