Question
Where does the Digi AnywhereUSB Manager for Windows store its configuration files, and does the location change depending on how the Manager was installed?
Answer
The AnywhereUSB Manager keeps a separate configuration (client ID, group and auto-connect settings, identity certificate, and logs) in an AnywhereUSB folder under a Windows Roaming AppData directory. Which directory it uses depends on the install mode you chose:
• Service mode: C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\AnywhereUSB\
• Stand-alone: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\AnywhereUSB\
In service mode the Manager runs under the Windows LocalSystem account, so its configuration lives in that account’s roaming profile (the systemprofile path) and is shared by all sessions. In stand-alone mode each Windows user has an individual Manager configuration stored in that user’s own roaming profile, so the %USERNAME% path resolves per logged-in user. This is the AnywhereUSB Plus generation Manager (awusbmanager.exe); the legacy first/second-generation AnywhereUSB Configuration Utility is a different application and does not use these paths.
