Files Needed - The file 'Edgeport.lnk' on Edgeport Driver Disk for Windows 2000, XP Server 2003 is needed

This error is due to an bug that can happen when you're using an older Edgeport driver. It usually happens if you unplug an Edgeport and then plug it into a different USB port, or connect another Edgeport to a PC that already has an Edgeport installed. There are a couple of ways to resolve this.

1. Uninstall the Edgeport driver and then install the latest Edgeport driver (RECOMMENDED):

The drawbacks to this method are that the Edgeport driver will changed (which should be fine, but it could introduce problems) and that the Edgeport's configuration, i.e. the COM port number assignment(s), will be defaulted, so they may need to be changed afterwards back to what they were before. When using this method, it's recommended to first make note of the Edgeport''s COM port assignments before uninstalling, compare them afterwards, and change them if needed.

Specifically, to do the uninstall, run the Edgeport Configuration Utility, click the Uninstall button under the Advanced tab, then reboot the PC when prompted. After Windows loads, download latest Edgeport driver here, extract the driver, then point the Edgeport's found new hardware wizard(s) to the location where the driver was extracted.

2. Work around that error by clicking the Browse button and browsing to the location of the edgeport.lnk file that it's looking for (if you must use an older, unsupported Edgeport driver for some reason):

In order to do that, you first have to open our .cab file (either called "edgeport.cab" or "ionetwrk.cab", depending on how old your install disc is) and extract the edgeport.lnk file somewhere convenient like your desktop. Then click Browse to point the error window to the location of the edgeport.lnk file that it's looking for. Afterwards, you may get similar errors asking for other files. Follow the same logic and extract those files as needed from our .cab file then browse to them.

This method is a bit more complicated but preferred because once you get through it nothing is changed, meaning you'll still be using the same Edgeport driver version and the Edgeport's configuration, i.e. the COM port number assignment(s), will be the exact same.
