The PC/X and MC/X cards have no driver support in Windows 9x or Windows ME.
The following procedure is provided as-is however, for those who own this legacy asynchronous card.
Installation of the non-intelligent PC/4, PC/8, or PC/16 under Windows 98
- From the Control Panel, select Add New Hardware.
- Press Next. When asked if you want Windows to detect your new hardware, select No, then select Next.
- From the Hardware Types window, select Ports (COM & LPT). Select Next.
- Select (Standard port types) and Communications Port, then select Next.
- Follow through the remainder of the Add New Hardware Wizard . When asked to reboot, select No until all ports for the card have been added (see step 6), and the port configuration has been correctly modified.
- For each new Port, rerun the Add New Hardware Wizard, as outlined in steps 1 - 5 above, adding each serial port of the card until all serial ports for the card have been added.
When all the serial ports of the board have been added, continue on with the following steps:
- From Control Panel, select the System icon.
- Select the Device Manager tab and expand the Ports (COM & LPT) key.
- Double-click the first new Communications Port you added during steps 1-5 above, then select the Resources tab.
- In the Setting based on: window, select Basic configuration 8.
- From within the Resource settings window, double-click on the Input/Output Range, then scroll through the provided Values and select the range which starts with the address you selected for that port.
- Double-click on the Interrupt setting and select the IRQ you selected on the card.
When all newly Installed ports have been edited for the correct I/O Address and IRQ configuration, the Operating System must be rebooted to load the changes. Once rebooted, the serial ports should be available for use.
Note: Regarding the DS1 switch on the PC/4 and PC/8 card, this configuration does not use it, so all switches can be turned to the OFF position.
