1. EEPROM - Stores device information such as model code, firmware version, Ethernet MAC addresses. These are factory settings and there is no user information.
2. Flash memory - Stores Passport firmware (bios, Linux kernel, ram disk and root file system) along with user data on the /usr2 partition.
