Passing Digital I/O lines between modules

Passing digital IO lines in this manner is only available using the XStream family of radios.
Follow these instructions to configure a module to pass the DTR input on one module to the DCD output of a second module:
  1. Change the "DR" parameter to 1 on the radio(s) you want to transmit their Digital Input state. This instructs a radio to read its I/O line input (pin2 on the OEM module) and transmit any transition in its state.
  2. Ensure the "CD" parameter is set to 1 or 2 on the radio(s) you want to receive the transmitted Digital Input state and report at the Digital Output (pin 7 on the OEM module). This affects whether the I/O line output is default to logic 1 or 0, respectively. Note that on the OEM module logic 1 is +5VDC and logic 0 is 0VDC.
  3. On the OEM module when pin 2 is (de-)asserted on a transmitting radio, pin7 is (de-)asserted on a receiving radio.
  4. The ''''CO'''' parameter can be set from x00 (default-disabled) to xFF, which represents the OEM pin7 level timeout. Pin7 defaults to the level set by the ''''CD'''' parameter after no new status information is received during the timeout period.
  5. For RS-232 applications (using the Digi interface board), pin2 of the OEM module goes to DTR (pin4 on the DB-9 connector) and pin 7 on the OEM module goes to both DSR (pin6) and DCD (pin1), with the appropriate changes in TTL to RS232 voltage levels.
Important: If using the interface board the DIP switches will attempt to change a module''''s "CD" parameter the next time you power it on. To disable the DIP switches from rewriting "CD," install the jumper across J7 on the interface board.
