Windows Realport comm ports of an Etherlite won't open after Etherlite is power-cycled

Problem:

Is the power LED of the Etherlite flashing or steady?

If the LED is flashing, the EtherLite no longer has an IP address, and needs to be reset. If the power LED is steady however, the EtherLite has an IP address, but it is may not be the one which the Realport driver was configured for.

When the EtherLite boots up, it sends out a bootp request whether or not it already has an IP address. If there is a DHCP server on the network, it will pick up the bootp request and serve the EtherLite an IP address. If the DHCP server does not have an IP reserved for the MAC address of the EtherLite, then the IP assigned will most likely not match the IP that was used to configure the driver.

Solution:

To discover the IP address of the EtherLite, you can use either the boot console procedure or the bootps utility for Windows found on our web site. Click here for further information about using the Etherlite Boot Console:

Etherlite Boot Console

Bootps.exe is a small bootp server which will "hear" the request from the EtherLite over the network, and display the IP address associated with the Etherlite's MAC address. Click here for the bootps.exe utility.
