RF Range Testing

RF Range Testing

With the many different types of environments and obstacles that can affect radio communication, in most installations it is a good idea to conduct some sort of site survey to ensure that communication between radios is operating at an acceptable level.

Digi has developed several different methods of performing range tests to help determine the expected communication quality between two radios. All of the communications on the Digi radios with the exception of the XPress Ethernet Bridge, can be tested with a laptop running the X-CTU program. The X-CTU program has a built-in range test that sends out a 32-byte packet and checks for an accurate return packet from remote loop back radio.
