Digi AnywhereUSB® Plus Performance Data

Digi has benchmarked the performance of the AnywhereUSB Plus product line. This document describes the test method used and the results observed.

The timing information reported here does not constitute a guarantee of a specific performance level. Each firmware release can introduce differences in timing, and the specific testbed host computer and endpoint equipment used will also cause variance.

The equipment and tools referenced were commonly available items used for testing and do not constitute a recommendation to use those specific products.

Testing consisted of connecting SanDisk SSD drives to the AnywhereUSB Plus ports and performing read and write operations to them.

Test Setup

  • Test machine and devices were directly connected to a Netgear 10 Gbps switch using an ASUS 10 Gbps NIC.
  • A secondary 1 Gbps switch, a Netgear ProSafe 8 GS108, was used where noted.
  • Windows disk performance was measured using CrystalDiskMark.

Performance – Version 10.1.38.188

Test conditions:

  • Date: September 10, 2026
  • Windows 10 (build 19045), 64-bit edition, Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2
  • AnywhereUSB Installer Version: 10.1.38.188
  • AnywhereUSB Manager 3.1.39.6
  • AnywhereUSB Driver Version: 7.1.3.122
  • MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/second

Experimental Windows 10+ feature — Lock into RAM:

  • Performance depends on PC system and memory load.
  • Minimum requirements: Windows 10, 11, or Server 2019+, with 8 GB+ RAM.
  • Recommended: create a snapshot before enabling.
  • To enable: File → Preferences → Experimental tab → Lock into RAM.
  • Recommended default: locked size of 9216.
  • After accepting configuration changes, the PC must be rebooted before testing.

Performance – Version 10.1.36.186

Test conditions:

  • Date: May 1, 2025
  • Windows 10 (build 19045), 64-bit edition, Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2
  • AnywhereUSB Installer Version: 10.1.36.186
  • AnywhereUSB Manager 3.1.36.1
  • AnywhereUSB Driver Version: 7.1.3.121

Note:

  • Digi AnywhereUSB Plus extends USB connectivity over the network, it does not replicate the performance of a USB device plugged directly into a PC with a USB cable. This is expected behavior for USB-over-IP technology: USB traffic is processed by the AnywhereUSB Plus Hub, travels across an IP network, and is reassembled by host drivers and software. That added processing and network transport introduces overhead and variability not present with a direct USB cable connection.
  • Actual results will vary with USB device type and behavior, host CPU/memory/OS, firmware and driver versions, network speed and latency, Ethernet vs. Wi-Fi connectivity, and the number of active USB devices, so figures throughout this document should be read as directional, not guaranteed.
