Welcome to the next installment of our Digi software updates. Digi's software development team continually enhances the features, capabilities and security of our software to deliver new capabilities and improve the customer experience.
Digi is excited to announce that we have added several great new features to Digi Remote Manager and DAL OS version 24.12.153.120. We invite you to take a minute and walk through the most important highlights of our software’s latest additions and changes.
DAL OS and Digi RM: The Software Muscle Behind Digi Cellular Solutions
The Digi Accelerated Linux operating system (DAL OS) provides powerful intelligence to our solutions, enabling automation, security, out-of-band management and other sophisticated capabilities that support the needs of users and network managers across enterprise, industrial, transportation, government and medical use cases.
DAL OS is fully integrated with Digi Remote Manager® (Digi RM), our cloud-based remote configuration and management tool, and together these key software offerings enable those who use and manage Digi solutions to gain visibility and seamless access to the full value of their devices — wherever they are deployed.

Which Digi Devices Support DAL OS?
Digi has a large and growing list of devices based on the DAL operating system — including routers, console servers, USB management devices and other infrastructure management products:
Digi Pillars of Focus
The following software features revolve around the four pillars of Digi: security, ease-of-use, resiliency, and cost savings. Each section describes our latest patches and updates.
Security
Mission and business-critical devices often live in the field for many years. With each major release of Digi’s DAL OS, we address common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) including ongoing monitoring, alerts, and notifications related to CVEs.
Updates for urgent CVE patches:
- Linux kernel version 6.12
- Python v3.13 (CVE-2024-4030 & CVE-2023-40217)
- wpa-supplicant/hostapd v2.11 (CVE-2023-52160)
- pam_radius (CVE-2024-3596 — BlastRADIUS)
- shellinabox v2.20.1
- ncurses v6.5
- stunnel v5.73
- telnet (CVE-2020-10188)
- iPerf3
- gmp 6.3.0
Three additional security related changes including in this firmware release:
- When Primary Responder mode is enabled the following additional changes are made:
- FIPS mode is automatically enabled
- USB ports are disabled by default
- Device will reboot when initially enabling PrimaryResponder mode
Our ongoing monitoring and regular updates of DAL OS are a part of our complete offering. You can learn more about Digi cybersecurity in our Security Center, our Digi TrustFence® page, and our Value Added Services page.
Ease-of-Use
With this pillar, Digi seeks to continually enhance the customer experience, making IoT configuration, deployment, monitoring and management as seamless as possible — so your time is spent on your core business objectives. Here are our latest improvements.
Simplify the process of updating modem firmware with bundled updates
Maintaining the cellular modem inside the Digi device with firmware updates is just as important as keeping the Digi device itself up to date with the latest firmware.
Digi Remote Manager now includes a bundled Digi modem firmware versioning system for simplifying modem firmware updates as part of the configuration Template.
This bundled firmware system can also be utilized for over-the-air (OTA) modem firmware updates from the Admin CLI of the Digi device. For more details on updating the modem firmware in your Digi device, see this documentation link.

Simplified Filter Bar for Easy Searching
The search bar on the Devices page in Digi Remote Manager was updated to combine the basic and advanced search functionality so users can more easily filter their search results and combine multiple search filters together for quickly finding devices in their account.
Watch this video for a quick demonstration of how to leverage the new capabilities of the search bar in Digi Remote Manager.

🔹 Scalable and future-ready &nmash; Whether you’re managing a small enterprise or a global backbone, BGP Route Mapping ensures reliability and scalability as your network grows.
Even better than simply supporting BGP route mapping on our Digi routers, any BGP routes can be viewed, monitored, and alerted for changes using our Digi Remote Manager portal.

Resiliency
Network resiliency means your network keeps going, instead of keeping you up nights. Digi is committed to continually building resilience into our solutions. Here are the latest enhancements.
Python Applications on IX-series Products
We’re always striving to make our firmware leaner, faster, and more efficient while keeping your experience flexible and powerful. As part of this effort, Python has been removed from our default firmware on Digi IX20, IX20W, and IX30 routers — but don’t worry, it’s still available as an optional add-on package for those who need it!
This change helps us keep our core system lightweight and optimized while giving you the choice to enable Python only when needed. If Python is part of your workflow, simply install it as an add-on, and you’ll be up and running in no time! To enable Python support on your Digi IX20/30 device, a Python container must be installed. See the Knowledge Base article for instructions.
We appreciate your support as we continue to evolve and improve. If you have any questions, our team is here to help. Contact the Digi support team.
