When using Digi Navigator to discover and manage a Digi Connect EZ, which firewall ports (or “holes”) need to be open?
Answer
Open the following ports on the local firewall (for example Windows Defender/Windows Firewall or an antivirus firewall) between the Digi Navigator host and the device network:
UDP 5353 (mDNS) – this is the discovery port the Connect EZ (and the AnywhereUSB Plus line) actually use. Digi Navigator relies on multicast DNS / service discovery on UDP 5353 to find these products, so this is the one required for Connect EZ discovery.
UDP 2362 (ADDP) – the Advanced Device Discovery Protocol port used by the older PortServer TS, ConnectPort (LTS/TS/X#), Digi One, and Digi Connect SP families (UDP broadcast, multicast address 224.0.5.128). Digi Navigator also discovers those ADDP devices, so open UDP 2362 as well if Navigator must find them on the same network. It is not needed to discover a Connect EZ on its own.
TCP 771 (RealPort) – if you are using RealPort to map serial ports over the network, open TCP 771. This is the default RealPort port and is configurable on both the Digi device and the driver host; if you change it from 771, open the port you configured instead (encrypted RealPort defaults to TCP 1027).
