Introduction
Digi’s Technical Support team is here to help activate your SIM card services. This article will walk through how to request an activation and use the template to ensure a seamless activation experience.
This guide will cover how to request the activation of your SIM card(s) if you purchased them from https://shop.digi.com, or by contacting your Digi sales rep directly. If you purchased cellular services and/or SIM card(s) through any other means, such as through Ventus, please contact the appropriate group for assistance, or use the self-service portal for activation/deactivations, if one is available.
Prerequisites
- An active quote from your Digi Sales representative, or proof of purchase of service and SIM card(s) from https://shop.digi.com.
- The physical SIM card(s) to obtain the ICCID numbers.
- Download and fill out the template file found here. This file is needed for every request you make for SIM card activations.
Using the Template File
All requests need the template file. This area will outline how to prepare this file to send to Digi for your activation request.
- At the top of the file, there are fields for Customer Account, PO#, and Quote#. Please fill these in.
- The file needs information in Columns C-G for each device that needs to be activated. An example of how the line needs to be setup is listed in the template, but here is a break down of each field
NOTE: Excel will turn longer numbers into scientific notation by default. Ensure to use the ' mark before entering in the number for Excel to not manipulate the data. For example, if the IMEI is 352613070066489 enter it into Excel file as '352613070066489. The same goes for the SIM number.
- Column C - IMEI# - This is the IMEI for the device the SIM will be paired to. For Verizon, this field is mandatory. For other carriers, it is not mandatory for activation, but we do recommend you include this value with your request.
- Column D - SIM# - This is the ICCID value found on the SIM card or SIM card holder.
- Column E - Provider - Which cellular provider the SIM should be activated for. This is typically AT&T or Verizon.
- Column F - Billing SKU - This is the SKU found on your Data Plan Service quote.
- Column G - Date - This is the desired date to have the SIM card(s) activated. Please give us 24 hours (M-F) for full activation once your submission is made.
An example of what the spreadsheet can look like is below:

Note: There are some tips on the right-hand side of the spreadsheet to help you fill this out.
- After saving the changes, rename the file to include today’s date to help track your request. The example file should be named “SIMActivationRequestDD-MM-YY.CustomerName.xlsx”. For example, if Digi was to request an activation on the 22nd of July 2026, the file would be named “SIMActivationRequest22-07-26.Digi.xlsx”
Requesting SIM Card Activation
After the template has been created, you will need to contact Digi Technical Support to request the activation of your SIM card(s).
- Email data.plan.quotedesk@digi.com with the following information:
- Email Subject: SIM Card Activation Request - <Your Company’s Name>
- Email Body: The body should contain a request for activation of the SIM cards in the attached Excel file.
- Excel Template - The completed Excel template should be attached to the email.
- A case number will be automatically generated and sent back to you after the email is received.
-
Digi is committed to a 24-hour service level agreement (SLA) for communicating to you on device activations/deactivations, Monday through Friday, 6am-6pm Central US time. While most activations on the carrier's network occur right away after our team processes your request, it can take up to 48 hours for the SIM card(s) to become active on the carrier's network.
Requesting SIM Card Deactivation
If deactivation is needed, the process is the same as activation, except in the email that is sent, the subject line and body should indicate it is for a deactivation instead of activation. The template is still needed to know which devices need to be deactivated.
