Digi International Announces Support for AWS Greengrass

MINNETONKA, Minn., June 7, 2017 – Digi International®, (NASDAQ: DGII, www.digi.com), a leading global provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity products and services, today announced support for AWS Greengrass and AWS IoT. Support for AWS Greengrass means Digi’s ConnectCore® line of embedded products will enable device manufacturers to build intelligent IoT devices that securely communicate on a local network and exchange messages with each other without having to connect to the cloud.

AWS Greengrass is designed to support edge devices with cloud connectivity, enabling them to collect and analyze data closer to the source of information, while also allowing devices to securely communicate with each other on local networks. More specifically, AWS Greengrass enables developers to author serverless code (AWS Lambda functions) in the cloud and conveniently deploy them to smart connected devices that aren’t always connected.

“Building connected devices for the industrial IoT requires secure local device level intelligence without dependency on constant connectivity,” said Mike Rohrmoser, director of product management, embedded systems at Digi International. “The unique combination of Digi TrustFence™ device security, local Lambda extensions, Digi Remote Manager® integration, and Amazon Web Services' Greengrass delivers the vision for the next generation of IoT edge intelligence in embedded devices.”

The Digi ConnectCore line of embedded systems offer fully integrated and diverse connectivity options. A compact form factor with pre-certified wireless connectivity make it a powerful choice for new applications as well a potential replacement for x86 based solutions. Additionally, the Digi ConnectCore line is built using ruggedized, industrial temperature rated components that can be easily installed on any manufactured device.
