Power over ethernet for XStream PKG-E-PKGE

Does the XStream Digi Ethernet radio modem support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?

No. The device cannot be powered directly from a PoE port on a compatible hub.

However, it may be useful to send power on the unused wires of the CAT-5 cable in situation where the radio will be mounted in a location that optimizes radio coverage but may not have a power outlet nearby.

There are several third party devices available to inject the power onto the cable and then remove it at the remote side to power the radio modem.

An internet search on "PoE power over Ethernet injectors" will bring up examples.

Note: When the PoE equipment outputs a regulated 5VDC, the user will have to bypass the power supply built into the PKG-E product by populating a bypass jumper.

Please contact Digi support for help with this operation.
