Programmable Christmas Lights

By Mike Sutherland

Mike Sutherland created programmable Christmas lights using XBees. This wireless design enables the lights to flash in a choreographed patterns and add something spectacular to your Christmas light display.  Wireless signals are sent over a Zigbee network to the LED lights. The build is simple with the only substantial accessories being an XBee, Breakout Board, and a set of christmas lights. Mike even programmed the lights to dance along with songs like Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

If this sounds like something you want to try, check out Mike’s Instructable that will take you through how to build your own. All the necessary code is up on GitHub too!
