HOW TO: Configure Static IP Address and Network Parameters with Digi ConnectPort X2e SE Smart Energy Gateways
When you connect an Ethernet or Wi-Fi Digi Smart Energy gateway to your LAN, it first tries to acquire an IP address from a router with an enabled DHCP_server on your network. If successful at acquiring the IP address, it pulls in the default gateway and DNS server addresses at the same time if possible. The default gateway address is what tells the gateway how to reach the internet. Most home network routers are automatically configured to serve up IP addresses using DHCP by default.
If you don’t have a router on your network or the DHCP server is turned off, there is the ability to configure the IP address and required network information manually.
The ConnectPort X2e SE gateway for Smart Energy does not have the Web Interface enabled by default. However, if you push the little button on the corner of the face plate. You have about 10 seconds from the time you press the reset button to open the web interface, after which it becomes inaccessible again. After the button is pushed, you can navigate to the IP address of the gateway using your web browser.
If you do not know the IP address of the gateway or you do not have one assigned via DHCP, the Device Discovery Tool for Windows can be used to find the ConnectPort X2e SE:Troubleshooting
The gateway cannot connect to Device Cloud. The two most common reasons for this state are:
- The gateway cannot connect to an NTP time server to get the correct time. See below for instructions.
