Mandatory Firmware Update Version 20.2.162.90 for AnywhereUSB 8/24 Plus

This article highlights Digi’s mandatory firmware update recommendation; to update the firmware of the AnywhereUSB Plus for SKUs AW08-G300 and AW24-G300 to version 20.2.162.90 firmware available from the Technical Support website:

Description of Change
Firmware release 20.2.162.90 or later for the AnywhereUSB 8 Plus and AnywhereUSB 24 Plus devices includes important product updates. Customers need to update their product to this firmware to improve long-term product stability and reliability.

Reason for Change
The 20.2.162.90 firmware updates the product initialization and bring up routines. These changes significantly improve product stability and reliability.

This notice relates specifically to:

SKU Description
AW08-G300 AnywhereUSB 8 Plus
AW24-G300 AnywhereUSB 24 Plus

The stability and reliability improvements are specific to these two SKUs.

The DAL 20.2.162.90 firmware also updates the Anywhere USB 2 Plus along with many other SKUs, but the stability concerns and related improvements outlined in this PCN are not applicable to the Anywhere USB 2 Plus. Updating to the latest firmware is always recommended as a best practice.

Timing of Change
All units shipped from Digi that have Revision D or later on the label (see below) already have this firmware pre-loaded at the factory, so the update has already been completed.
