I have ConnectPort TS or PortServer TS devices. Which product should I consider?

The Digi Connect EZ 4 TS is designed as an efficient transition upgrade for ConnectPort TS and PortServer TS deployments. It preserves the same mechanical footprint and RJ-45 serial pinout, and supports familiar RealPort workflows — while delivering the modern Digi Connect EZ platform, updated security capabilities, and new management options. It is important to understand that this is a transition to a new platform with improved capabilities. Does the Digi Connect EZ 4 support RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485?

Yes. All four serial ports are software-selectable for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 — configurable independently per port, with no hardware changes or separate SKUs required. This simplifies inventory, ordering, and deployment across diverse serial environments.

What wireless connectivity options are available?

The Connect EZ 4 includes built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) with simultaneous client and access point modes. Optional LTE cellular is available via the Digi CORE plug-in LTE modem (1002-CMG4-GLB), supporting LTE Cat 4, 3G, and 2G EDGE/GPRS fallback with dual SIM slots. When cellular and Ethernet are used together, Digi SureLink® provides automatic WAN failover.

Is there an industrial version for harsh environments?

Yes. The Digi Connect EZ 4i is an industrial-rated variant with an extended operating temperature range of –35°C to 74°C (–31°F to 165°F), Class 1, Division 2 certification for hazardous locations, and IEC 60068-2-64/27 shock and vibration ratings. It uses a Phoenix connector for power input. Available with Wi-Fi and optional LTE.

How is the Digi Connect EZ 4 managed and configured?

The Connect EZ 4 supports local management via Digi Navigator (discovery and configuration tool), Web UI (HTTP/HTTPS), and CLI (SSH). For centralized management across multiple devices and sites, Digi Remote Manager is available.

What is Digi Accelerated Linux (DAL)?

DAL is Digi's unified embedded Linux OS across the Connect EZ product line. It provides a consistent, secure, and easy-to-deploy platform with built-in Python scripting, VPN support, advanced routing, and ongoing firmware updates—ensuring longevity and security across the device lifecycle.

What serial standards do Connect EZ devices support?

What is the industrial-certified model?

The EZ 4i (EZ04-IA00-EXT and EZ04-IAG4-EXT) carries Class 1, Division 2 certification for hazardous locations, IEC 60068-2-64 and 60068-2-27 shock/vibration ratings, and an extended operating temperature of -35°C to 74°C (or -35°C to 70°C with CORE modem).

Can Connect EZ run Python scripts?

Yes. All Connect EZ models include a built-in Python interpreter for event-based programmability, data conversion, and custom device connection logic without external hardware.

How are Connect EZ devices managed?

Via Digi Remote Manager (cloud) or Digi On-Prem Manager (local/air-gapped). Local management via WebUI (HTTP/HTTPS) and CLI (Telnet, SSH). Digi Navigator is available for local discovery and configuration.

What network protocols does Connect EZ support?

What is Digi SureLink?

Digi SureLink is a proprietary link management technology that continuously monitors WAN connectivity and automatically fails over to a backup connection (cellular or alternate Ethernet) to ensure always-on connectivity for critical applications.

What is the warranty on Connect EZ devices?

5-year warranty on the base Connect EZ device. 3-year warranty on the Digi CORE plug-in LTE modem (when included).

1 year of LCA is included at purchase, providing 24x7 expert technical support with 4-hour SLA and Digi Remote Manager Premier for centralized device management. LCA extensions are available for additional years.
