HOW TO: Install RealPort in Ubuntu 14.04 Linux
Obtain the latest driver from the Digi Technical Support site:
http://www.digi.com/support/productdetail?pid=2247&type=drivers# scriptIn the directory where the driver source rpm is located, issue the rpmbuild command with the --define flag to specify the Red Hat distribution version.# rpmbuild --rebuild 40002086_V.src.rpmChange to the directory where the rpm package was built:# cd /root/rpmbuild/RPMS/(arch)Where (arch) represents your system architecture (i.e. x86_64, amd64, etc..).Use rpm to install the new driver package by typing:# alien -d --scripts dgrp-1.9-34.i386.rpm
# dpkg -i dgrp_1.9-34_x86_64.debReplace x86_64 with the architecture for your system.Load the module: Xterm/graphical Method:# /usr/bin/dgrp/config/dgrp_guiCommand Line Method:# dgrp_cfg_node init (ttyid) (ip_address) (number_of_ports)The following example configures a 16 port PortServer with device names of ttya00 through ttya15:# dgrp_cfg_node init a 192.168.1.3 16Completing the installation, press:# [Ctrl] dIf errors are seen, check the typescript file residing in the directory where the "script" command was run for driver compilation details/errors.
